The Sculpture

A beautifully sculpted sacred Nandi bull, handcrafted in solid brass by artisans from Bastar, Chhattisgarh. Unlike a conventional polished brass idol, this piece celebrates the raw, expressive character of tribal Dhokra — with a richly textured surface, deep black etching, and an aged antique-gold appearance.

Nandi is traditionally revered as the vahana and devoted guardian of Lord Shiva, representing steadfast devotion, patience, strength, and spiritual discipline. His calm yet powerful presence makes this sculpture especially suited to a home temple, meditation space, console, or curated Indian art collection.

The sculpture is made using the traditional Dhokra lost-wax process. Artisans first create the form and decorative details in wax before building a clay mold around it. Molten brass is then poured into the mold, replacing the wax. The clay mold is broken open after casting, and the sculpture is individually cleaned and finished.

This centuries-old process means that every piece carries subtle irregularities, textures, and markings that cannot be recreated by industrial casting.

Authentic. Handmade. Individually cast.

What's Inside

Sacred Nandi bull — A substantial 1.7 kg brass sculpture inspired by the traditional iconography of Nandi.

Deep etched detailing — Contrasting black etched patterns bring depth to the antique brass surface.

Textured tribal character — The irregular handmade surface gives the sculpture the unmistakable tactile quality of Bastar Dhokra.

Antique gold appearance — A warm aged-brass finish rather than a highly polished surface, allowing the craftsmanship to remain the focus.

Solid brass construction — A substantial collectible designed for long-term display.

Shipping & Care

Each sculpture is carefully wrapped, padded, and securely boxed before dispatch. Tracked worldwide from India.

Within India: 4–7 days · International: 10–18 days

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use water, metal polish, abrasive cloths, or chemical cleaners. We recommend allowing the brass to naturally age and develop its own patina.

Because this is handmade Dhokra, minor variations in texture, casting marks, and coloration are natural and should be considered part of the artwork.
