The Sculpture
A beautifully compact interpretation of Nandi, the sacred bull and guardian of Lord Shiva, handcrafted in brass by artisans from Bastar, Chhattisgarh.
Rather than a highly polished religious idol, this piece retains the distinctive visual character of Bastar Dhokra — a richly textured surface, antique-gold brass, and deep black etched patterns that emphasize the sculptural form.
Nandi is traditionally associated with devotion, patience, inner strength, and protection. His serene presence makes this sculpture particularly suited to a home altar, meditation corner, bookshelf, console, or intimate collection of Indian art.
The sculpture is made through the traditional lost-wax casting process. The artisan first creates the form and decorative elements in wax, builds a clay mold around it, and then pours molten brass into the mold. Once the metal has cooled, the clay casing is broken away and the sculpture is finished by hand.
The result is not a factory-perfect object. Slight variations in texture, casting marks and surface finish are natural characteristics of authentic Dhokra craftsmanship.

Dust with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid water, metal polish, abrasive cloths, and chemical cleaners. The brass can be allowed to naturally develop a deeper patina over time.
Because this is individually cast Dhokra artwork, minor variations in texture, color, and casting are expected and are part of its authenticity.
