The Sculpture

A charming trio of handcrafted brass elephants, created in Bastar using the traditional Dhokra lost-wax casting technique. Designed as a coordinated set, the three elephants bring rhythm, movement, and a distinctly Indian artisanal character to a shelf, console, entryway, or curated display.

The elephant holds a special place in Indian visual culture, symbolising strength, wisdom, prosperity, good fortune, and stability. Displayed as a group, these petite sculptures make a particularly versatile decorative accent — equally suited to contemporary, rustic, bohemian, or traditional interiors.

Each elephant is individually cast in solid brass and finished with intricate tribal etchings. The antique brass surface retains the natural irregularities and tactile quality characteristic of handmade Dhokra rather than the uniform appearance of machine-produced décor.

Dhokra is an ancient lost-wax metal-casting tradition. The artisan creates the form in wax, adds the decorative details by hand, and encases it within a clay mold. Molten brass then replaces the wax, after which the clay mold is broken away and the sculpture is individually finished.

Because the mold is destroyed during casting, every elephant carries subtle differences in texture and detailing.

Hand-cast. Hand-finished. Authentically Bastar.

What's Inside

Three elephant sculptures — A coordinated set of three individually cast brass elephants.

Intricate tribal etching — Fine surface patterns add visual depth and highlight the traditional character of Bastar Dhokra.

Antique brass finish — A warm, aged appearance that works beautifully with both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Compact proportions — Each piece measures just 9 cm long, making the set easy to style on bookshelves, consoles, mantels, desks, or smaller display areas.

Substantial handmade weight — At approximately 370 g each, these are solid brass pieces rather than lightweight decorative replicas.

Shipping & Care

Each elephant is individually wrapped and the complete set is carefully padded and boxed for safe transit. Tracked worldwide from India.

Within India: 4–7 days · International: 10–18 days

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid washing, abrasive materials, metal polish, and chemical cleaners. Brass naturally develops a richer patina with age, enhancing its antique character.

Slight variations in texture, casting, etching, and patina are natural to the Dhokra process and make each set unique.
