The Sculpture
A dignified Nandi bull rendered in the distinctive visual language of Bastar Dhokra, this handcrafted brass sculpture brings together sacred symbolism and the expressive character of tribal metalwork.
Nandi is the revered companion and guardian of Lord Shiva, traditionally associated with devotion, purity, patience, and quiet strength. His composed form makes this piece equally at home in a sacred space or as a carefully chosen accent within an Indian art collection.
What makes this sculpture particularly appealing is its strong contrast between the warm antique-gold brass and deep black etched detailing. The dark patterning brings definition to the surface while the rustic texture preserves the handmade character of the casting.
Each sculpture is created through the traditional Dhokra lost-wax technique. The artisan forms the sculpture and its decorative elements before creating a clay mold around the wax model. Molten brass is then poured into the mold, replacing the wax. After casting, the mold is broken open and the sculpture is individually cleaned and finished.
The result is a piece with its own subtle casting marks, textures, and variations — characteristics that are impossible to reproduce through factory manufacturing.

Dust gently using a soft, dry cloth. Avoid water, abrasive materials, metal polish, and chemical cleaners. Allow the brass to naturally develop its patina over time.
Minor variations in texture, coloration, and casting marks are inherent to handmade Dhokra and are not considered imperfections.
