The Sculpture

A powerful and beautifully detailed representation of Nandi, the sacred bull and devoted guardian of Lord Shiva. Handcrafted in solid brass by artisans of Bastar, Chhattisgarh, this sculpture combines the spiritual symbolism of Nandi with the distinctive visual language of traditional Dhokra tribal art.

Nandi is revered as a symbol of strength, patience, purity, and unwavering devotion. Traditionally placed facing Lord Shiva, he is also regarded as a guardian and protector, making this sculpture particularly meaningful for a home altar, meditation space, entryway, or sacred corner.

The sculpture is created using the ancient Dhokra lost-wax casting technique. The form is first shaped in wax and covered with layers of clay before molten brass is poured into the mold. Once the metal has cooled, the clay mold is broken away and the sculpture is individually finished by hand.

The antique gold brass, deep black etched detailing, and touches of enamel bring out the intricate tribal patterns while retaining the raw, rustic character of authentic Bastar Dhokra.
